Gift of the Bees Extract is made in our certified farm kitchen. Made from our hive's Propolis ~ cleaned and extracted, Blended with our wildflower honey infused with sage and thyme. Propolis is a very sticky substance the bees make from tree and plant resins, adding their own wax. The bees use it to protect the health of the colony, to protect their hive from disease, including the effects of intruders (mice and other critters have been found in hives, coated with propolis to protect the bees from disease). The compounds in propolis provide immune defense and antioxidant properties. Studies are showing propolis as a potential therapeutic and preventive agent, as an antimicrobial, wound healer, cardio-protector and optimizer of neural function (ncbi.nim.nih.gov "Evidence on the Health Benefits of Supplemental Propolis). Our intention in making this product is to provide alternative options for those who may not be able or choose not to take prescription or over the counter drugs. For the symptoms related to enlarged prostate, we have found that nettle root is a helpful herb, combined in the tincture with saw palmetto and pumpkin seed, both organically sourced, to support prostate health as aging occurs. The owner of that aging prostate may find that multiple nighttime trips to the bathroom are not necessary when a dropperful is taken in the morning as well as at night. You'll want to add it to a bit of water, juice or tea, as the taste is not unlike what you might expect from a root! The alcohol we use for extraction is organic, either grain or sugar cane based. Distilled water is added to the correct percentage for extraction. Please don't use this without having your prostate checked out by a professional if you think there may be issues!
