Burton Mountain Farms believes that the future of food may very well be “local”, and that our farm, and our neighboring farms, are vital to our communities long range wellbeing and prosperity… that is why BMF is predicated on blending past growing practices such as the French Style Market Garden and new innovative methods of working with nature such as aquaponics, vermiculture, iluciculture, and Controlled Environment Agriculture. Blending these ideas into a modern adaptation of the small family farm provides four season production utilizing hoop houses and waste-less growing methods that support the sustainable economic and eco-friendly mantra to Recycle, Reuse, and Repurpose. Our main objective with the farm, is to learn to live sustainably and self-reliantly… and ultimately to share the knowledge we gain (and the food we grow) with others. BMF was established in the spring of 2011 by partners Sid Blalock and David Peterson.
