Sour South


Sour South is a husband and wife team, Sierra and Richard. I’m the baker and he’s the business. We recently transplanted from Alabama to pursue our bread-making dreams in the mountains of Rabun County, Georgia!

We are a micro-bakery with a mission to nourish our community by providing naturally leavened sourdough breads made with regionally grown and produced grains. We are a licensed cottage bakery under the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

We are focused on supporting our local grain economy in Georgia and North Carolina by exclusively using organic flours and grains from To Your Health Sprouted Flour (Union Springs, AL), Dayspring Farms (Danielsville, GA), Lindley Mills (Graham, NC), and Carolina Ground (Hendersonville, NC).

Supporting our local economy and farmers is something we are very passionate about. We are committed to using farm fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. For that reason our menu will change with each season to reflect what is growing and thriving in our community!

We offer a variety of sourdough breads from simple country hearth loaves to brioche sandwich loaves to 100% whole grain breads and focaccia. Our breads are always naturally leavened and slow fermented for optimal flavor and digestive benefits.
